A little Pokéspotting, a little heroism (Crossover AU with @fenixofthedark)
Nita had been given a little more info than the last time she'd been sent to another Earth - Pokémon were real here, among other details - but the biggest thing in the précis had been the malfunctioning worldgate in a high-traffic area in a bustling city.
Said malfunctioning worldgate had hijacked her travel over there from her own New York, and now she couldn't call home. On top of that, the nature of the worldgate's malfunction meant a literal storm was brewing, darkening the sky.
She wasn't even sure if she could be expecting any help, wizard or Trainer.
She'd been dumped within half a mile of the worldgate's current location, a very loud POP! accompanying her arrival, and as much as she wanted to get back there and save everyone, she also knew she wasn't nearly prepared enough to handle this alone.
"Er, excuse me," she asked someone - their hair had caught her eye first - using the Speech to at least make it sound like she was speaking Japanese.
"Sorry about the noise. I need to get downtown in a hurry. Can you help me, please?"

That told the Gym Leader some Idiot had either released a couple of high-level electric types, or they were dealing with a rogue zapdos or, The Dark forbid, a thundurus. Possibly both, but guaranteed to attract as many electric types as possible.
Joy. Wonderful. At least Haru and the twins were up in Sinnoh.
It took everything they had not to snarl at the girl, but somehow, Niko managed it. Just. "You a high-level trainer?" Wait, noise...? They'd heard a bunch of teleports (because people were smart and evacuating, or trainers were popping in to be of use-) Red eyes raked her body, then narrowed. "If your monsters where stolen, file a report at the Gym. I'll deal with it after I deal with that!"

"But I've got power of my own. I'm here to help stop-" and here she jerked her head in the direction of the center of the building storm.
"That. And I've seen what's causing it, too."
At least this place had a sensible evacuation policy.

"And you want to go into the fray? What god did you piss on?"

"And It keeps trying to return the favor every chance It gets. For example, until this gets fixed, I can't go home. That worldgate's left me stranded, and it's been busted."
If this chaos was controlled, she wasn't the one controlling it.
"And people's lives are at stake, so I'm not leaving them in the lurch."
Nita often acted older than she looked; this was one of those times.

What vehicles there are - and it's far, far fewer than would be expected- are parked on the side of the roads.
Niko ignores it. Viridian knows what to do. They know what they have to do.
"The- I don't have time for this. You, girl. With me."
A flick of their rotomi and a pokeball appears in their hands while the phone is shoved back into a pocket. Seconds later, a shiny rapidash appears -because of course they have one. The mane ripples like silver fire as the unicorn paws the ground. It's not fire, but hair that shimmers like it.
Niko volts onto the pokemon before the reach down and offer a hand to Nita. "Hold on. You fall, you're on your own."

It's time to go to work.
Normally Nita could handle her own way, but minimizing the disturbance so people can leave is more important right now.
"Hear you loud and clear," she says, making her own jump and trying not to think of horses.
/Thank you,/ she adds quietly, because it's the principle of the thing.
As they travel, she'll have Bobo show her what data can be scavenged from the rogue worldgate's logs - scrambled, especially at a distance, but it becomes clear something's spooked it.
Or Someone.

The situation on the ground, based on what Niko's ordering, is... chaotic to say the last. There's electric types congregating - and someone swears they saw a zapdos but there's very magnezone around- and not enough trainers with a type advantage to deal with it. They're missing several of the powerful psychics, a Golden Eyed Child -a GED- has manifested (electric, of course, but she's away to safety now), and the two GEDs that could control the pokemon can't be found.
And there's an electivire in the way.
They could jump, but- nah.
"Eyes!"
It's all the warning Nita gets before the pokemon starts to burn and glow, fire crackling around it as Flare Blitz flares to life as they barrel into the electric pokemon.

/You don't want to be here right now!/ she says - not mind-to-mind, not telepathy, but in the Speech and out loud, but aimed unmistakably at the electivire.
/Go!/
If it's looking for stability, or escape, in its panic, she can try and ground it.

Wild? Maybe. Someone's rogue monster? Maybe. Doesn't matter and can't matter.
Not as the rush towards the epicentre, the Gym Leader snapping out 'ball after 'ball, releasing pokemon rapid fire. A gengar, the ghost cackling as it dissipates up into the air. A crobat, the bat little more than a streak of purple as it wings its way into the fray of monsters to help control them in a less fatal way than the gengar will do.
But Niko's a Gym Leader and a Gym Leader puts the safety of their people first above all else.
There's a jerk and braying neigh as the rapidash is somehow wheeled around to trot as Niko stares at the sky, red eyes narrowed. Cold. Brutal. Like they're willing to kill to ensure humanities safety. "Tell me what I need to relay to my trainers."
It's an order. Niceties can come later, if at all.

Elemental affinities, reactions; the hyperstring tangles inside the gate are gnarled, and it's as if the 'gate itself is growling.
"Anyone with spatial-manipulation, we'll need them," she declares. "We need cumulative force. Pokemon-"
Nita didn't know if that word was conveyed properly thanks to the Speech or not, and now wasn't the time to care.
"with Air or Water types can focus on the storm itself, but to stop the worldgate we need to ground it through the forces it's tied into. More like gravity, and light. All the Psychic-types we've got."
And, though she had to make the peridexis slow down to get this across, she added with urgency: "And if your Ghost-types aren't amped-up, get them out of here! They're vulnerable."
