[Guess who's managed to sneak along in Houtaro's backpack? How many times is this, now?

It's not a huge store, but Houtaro catches sight of Spanner while on his own way to electronics - unfortunately, so does his Chemy.]

Peeer?

[Houtaro freezes.]

"Hopper1, no! Don't you dare!"

[But there's only so much he can do without drawing attention from the staff.]

[machwheel]

[He hears an all too familiar voice, well, two of them.]

...Ichinose? What are you doing here?

[Spanner glances over to the little chemy trying to burst out of his bag. He walks over and drags the two of them to a closed off corner.

They should be fine here.]

I see your chemy couldn't help itself but sneak into your bag again.

[hophophopper]

[Not trying to be confrontational, Houtaro answers:]

Shopping?

[Because what ELSE would you do in a WalMart? He has NO idea.

As to Spanner's observation, Houtaro squirms.]

I'm not sure what trouble it would get into if I left it at home.

[Not least because Hopper1 seems to go out of its way to avoid being left alone... which he can understand, really, he doesn't hold that against his Chemy.]

Peeer...

[Grasshoppers can't do shifty-eyes, but Hopper1 might be just a tad sulky. Its character is pristine!!]

[Shopping. Fair enough.

Admittedly a pointless question to ask in this environment that has a explicitly given purpose.

Also fair enough for him not wanting it to cause trouble at home.]

You should learn how to keep your chemy on a leash at least. What's the point of not wanting it to cause trouble at home if it's going to cause it here instead?

[He walks away, going back in the direction the isle he was originally at. Kyoka's list isn't going to buy itself after all.

At least he isn't calling Hopper1 a tool or something of the ilk? Progress?]

[Houtaro doesn't roll his eyes, but neither does he look amused at the idea of putting Hopper1 on a leash.

Okay, so the idea is funny, kind of, but he's not going to say that aloud! What would his chemy think?]

I, uh, hope you find what you're looking for, Spanner.

[At that, he goes back to his shopping... only now, Hopper1 is interested in figuring out what Spanner is actually doing!

Shifting back to card form to reduce suspicion, it waits until Houtaro is busily sorting through all the phone case options in the store (maybe it's a present for Smaphone? Or his mother? ... or Rinne?) before slipping away, hiding at times under the various displays in-between aisles in order to keep pace with the older alchemist.]

[He shifts through the various tools on display, trying to find the exact model Kyoka is looking for. It's a convenient thing she is so thorough and specific when writing down a list.

It is not as convenient actually looking through this aisle. There's so many items that it's annoying to look through at times. But he'll find what he's looking for in time.

The corner of his eye notices something moving around in the distance. But he can't exactly parse exactly what. Spanner has a good idea what it is though.

Moving away some of the screwdrivers, he catches the card before it scuttles away and holds it in his hand.]

Just can't seem to keep yourself out of trouble... [Never a dull moment with Ichinose, or Hopper1.]

[Still in its card, Hopper1 manages to sulk.]

Per.

[It can't help but always be curious! And Houtaro isn't in danger, so it's not a bad thing to look around, right?]

[machwheel]

[He lets out a small, resigned sigh. There is no satiating the curiosity of this chemy. Might as well keep Hopper1 around so it doesn't trail off to who knows where.

He puts the card into his pocket, right next to where machwheel is in fact. So now Hopper1 has some chemy company!]

I'll return you to Ichinose once I find what Miss Kyoka asked for of me.

[Machwheel reacts to Hopper1 entering the pocket, pleased to see a familiar face.] "Wheel!"

/thinks back to that mention of 'world within the cards', wishes we knew what that meant/

[Is the happy, mostly-quiet acknowledgement. That's all right by Hopper1!

As for its fellow chemy, the grasshopper is most pleased.]

Peeeer. Hophop!

[It'll be at least ten minutes before Houtaro catches on that it's too quiet and something must have happened, so it's going to make the most of it and catch up with its friend!]

[During those ten-ish minutes, Spanner is able to find what Kyoka is looking for with a bit more browsing around. The wrench she asked for, as well as this rather expansive looking set of screwdrivers.

On the way to a different aisle he bumps into Ichinose, perfect timing. He takes the card out of his pocket and hands it back to him.]

Here. It was following me around again.

[Truly such a curious little chemy.]

i'm just imagining them playing board games or something. or having wifi.

[Houtaro's face goes through several emotions in quick succession, only to settle on embarrassment.]

Hopper1! Don't do that to me again, okay?

[The chemy worried him sometimes, really. At least Hopper1 is happy to see him!]

Hopper!

[Giving a quick goodbye to Machwheel, the grasshopper-card settles back in to Houtaro's pocket.

And that's another errand done!]

[He's slowly gained an amount of respect for Ichinose over the many months... But he can't deny that that was still a little amusing for him to see.

Machwheel calls from Spanner's pocket, saying goodbye for now to Hopper1.]

Wheel!

[Spanner can't help but find some amusement in that as well, and also can't deny chemies can be interesting little creatures. His feelings on them have changed to an extent, but he wouldn't know how to describe them now.

Either way, it's time to find the last item on Kyoka's list. That's in another aisle.

He walks away without saying a word again.]
