MEMES?!?
[This is a catchall post for memes for
Autistic_Ace's characters.
Current list of memes: Relationship Questions;
Truth Meme;
Texts From Last Night and General Texting;
Two Truths and a Lie;
Carnival/Fun of the Fair;
Denny's (which apparently does delivery now! Order-in?);
Words; Hurt/Comfort;
Lap Pillow;
Rescue Meme;
Train to the Afterlife Meme (which can ALSO double as a rescue meme, heh, especially for CRAU.)
Hurt/Comfort Meme, for kicks;
Wal-Mart;
Hygge;
If smut ( ahem ) feels like an option for a character/CR, then go ahead and ask! May require an AU/ageing up of some sort, but I digress.
Please specify a meme when tagging a character's respective toplevel - then we can go from there!]

"Keeping secrets like that from loved ones isn't a good idea for Mages either, huh?"
Or had he meant that title in a different way, in that they were somehow the same?

"Not that I'm one to talk, but what sort of things do you normally change? Or should I make that a general Mage question?"

Nita was definitely aware that 'aligning internal energy' wasn't how it worked for humans.

Thank you, Karate Kid! Of course, catching an arrow is entirely possible in certain circumstances -- with a lot of practice, a planned stunt, a bow with a low draw weight, a special arrow designed to slow down rapidly. Catching an arrow launched with serious attempt to harm under battlefield conditions? Can't happen, normally. But it's plausible even if it isn't possible.

"So it's invoking Suspension of Disbelief, as a force of nature?"
As opposed to convincing a part of nature that a certain kind of change was possible, or even desirable.

She could see the upsides, looking at it that way.

"So in a way, you kind of owe us one?"
Or owe wizardry one, more precisely.
"But I'm assuming a demonstration wouldn't be in the cards for what you had in mind today."

It is absolutely not as likely as she makes it sound, but she's not saying it in the Speech.
"Just warn me if I need to close my eyes or anything first."

"Why would you need to do that?" he wonders, even as he flips a couple of pens out of a pocket. A casual flick into the air sets them spinning, before he sticks out one foot to catch them -- one vertical on the end of his shoe, then the other perfectly balanced on top of that.

While her eyebrows go up, she's not here to be a doubter. "I could chalk it up to excellent proprioception, you know," she says, fighting to keep a smirk off her face.

With a twitch of his legs, Morgan snapped up to a standing position, snapping the pens out of midair to tuck back away. No, that wasn't actually magick, just lots of martial arts training. But the next part...
He caught up a bottle of water, held it with both hands, then snapped one forward and other back so it started spinning on its vertical axis. In the same motion, he tossed it upwards. In an extremely unlikely scenario at best, the sudden motion snapped the lid free of its plastic tamper seal, then unscrewed it, so just before the bottle was about to hit the ceiling the water started pouring out.
He twisted one hand around the chaotic stream of water spilling down towards the floor, and like a rope or a snake the water suddenly began wrapping around his arms in long loops as he made gentle circles with his hands while never touching it.
Then the bottle fell down from its arc. Morgan 'tossed' the water up into the air, caught the bottle, then swept it around him. Whether he was moving faster than he should, or the water moving slower, it was hard to say -- maybe it was both, but whatever the case, he caught every drop of water back in the bottle.
Then he followed his momentum, completed the spin the last arc of the bottle pushed his body though, and as he turned around he lobbed the bottle towards Nita. For a second it promised absolute disaster -- right up until the lid dropped straight onto the bottle's neck as it flew, and the spin screwed it right back on.
Catch!

In fact-
"You sure you don't have a water affinity? Because it can respond to people that way,"
She'd say a little more in that vein, but that's when Morgan throws the water bottle at her.
Not quite surprised enough to be off her game, she only fumbles it slightly before firmly grasping it - and makes sure the top is pointing away from her face when she halts its momentum, just in case.

"Nope, that's what we'd generically call the Spheres of Forces and Time. Manipulating kinetic energy, then the general flow of time on a personal and short-range area. Those are ones I'm pretty solid at."
no subject
Reluctantly, Nita nods. "I like it." Possibly in spite of herself.
She hefts the bottle, avoiding sealing it for the moment.
"But it'd take me a lot more energy to get the same result, both levitating the bottle and maneuvering the water separately."

"And... communication with the inanimate?"
Not that that was Nita's best subject either, but still.

Spirit? Mind? Matter? Time? Maybe he could think of a few ways, but all of them were foreign to his way of thinking, something he'd have to unpleasantly wrestle his mind into believing.

"So it's about personal background as well, then. We have that in common, a little."
What with her initial 'growing things' specialty and all...
"... Ever been out of your home dimension? Willing or unwilling."

He remains very matter-of-fact about this all, relaxed lazily into the couch cushions.
"I actually moved off-world a while ago. Found a place that I liked better and was more comfortable in. So yes, you bet. Ever met an alternate version of yourself?"
no subject
She could sort of see parallels with wizardry in all of them, but none were an exact match (unsurprisingly so at this point), and she could definitely appreciate the compare-and-contrast inherent in them.
"And no, actually. I know they exist, but I've never met them."
Kit may have had more to say on it, courtesy of Ponch, but he wasn't here today, and no dogs had seen fit to give her a surprise visit either.
"You have, though, then?"
